A brief description of each event along with some of the rules....

TEAM SORTING--90 seconds (warning given when 30 seconds are left. One bad number over the foul line is  a DQ. Correctly numbered calves need to stay over the line (if one crosses back over it is a DQ). Credit will be given for the number of cattle correctly sorted at the end of 90 seconds. Time will be called when the last calf has crossed the line or when time is up.

TRAILER LOADING--90 seconds. The calf must be loaded in the front of the trailer and the middle gate  must be latched. The horse is loaded into the back end of the trailer and the back door must be latched. All trash must be back over the line before time is called. Time will be called when the calf loader and the person who loaded their horse grab the rope at the front of the trailer and all other riders are mounted and trash is back over the line. The trailer will be open for inspection before the event.

ROPE & VET (DOCTORING)--90 seconds. After 45 seconds riders may get off their horse to rope a calf. Vet stands at arena gate (vet may leave gate only when calf is roped and dallied. Vet must remain at the gate until released by the judge. Shaving cream must hit anywhere on the calf. No dragging the calf. Once roper catches the calf and is dallied and the vet has left the gate, roper must remain dallied until shaving cream hits the calf. A head, horns, neck or back leg constitutes a legal catch. Anything else must be dropped and not dallied. Each contestant may carry one rope, including the vet, and may hand it off to another rider.

TEAM PENNING--90 seconds (warning given when 30 seconds are left). No trash is allowed over the line. Credit will be given for correctly penning one, two, or three calves in the pen within the time limit. No charging cattle into the pen. Time is called once a horse's nose enters the pen and a rider has his/her hand raised. Riders may not herd cattle on foot. 10 second penalty if horse goes into pen
